Default Tranny fluid

Local shop told me that the tranny fluid you use for a 97 ex 5spd is just 10w30 or 40 motor oil?...

kinda threw me off at first, is this right?

Using regular motor oil is fine for a short period of time (<1000 miles) but I would not use it for any longer than that. Get Honda MTF or Redline MTF. If you are having any minor grinding issues use GM Syncromesh FM, this might help smooth things out.

I use straight 30w. I have been using it alot longer then 1000 miles no problems.
