stripped head studs
i have a couple stripped head studs in a b series block. i was wondering how everyone fixed their blocks. please give input. i've heard of heli-coil and timesert. i've heard of people sending their blocks off to rs machines. for those of you that have actually used timesert, do you happen to have the part number and how much you spent. if the block is too bad to be fixed, i have no other choice but to get another block. i don't really want to do that because i spent a lot of money on that block.
Went threw this a few weeks ago. Helicoils didn't work for crap. I ended up getting a small piece of stainless steel pipe. The inner diameter was almost 10mm about the size of the ARP headstud and the out diameter was 12mm. Used a tap and die set to tap the inside of the pipe and thread the outside of the pipe. Tapped the block to the outside diameter of the pipe and cut the pipe off about 2.5 to 3 inches.
Screwed the pipe down into the block with the headstud. Voila, it's holding 70ft/lb of torque with the little D series block pushing 300whp.

Check with Golden Eagle, I told them where to get the Timesert kit. I am in FL so that doesn't help you much. The time serts work check the thread in allmotor.
