Default What's the best way to wire this?

I'd like to know what is the better way to wire all this up. I will put a 75x4 amp in the trunk. It will power my front coaxials (60w) and rear coaxials (100w). The rears I guess should be easy, as they are right there, near the amp. My main problem is how to wire the front speakers? I have a 14 gauge speaker wire...and this is what I can do:

- run the speaker wire from trunk to the back of hu through the middle, under the carpet...and connect them to the stock front channel wires.

- run them somehow directly to the front speakers, avoiding the stock (much smaller) wire.

- I'm not sure, but most likely there are the front channel wires in the trunk as well. Connect directly to them.

What do you suggest?

Run the wires right to the speakers, it can be a bit of a mission but its worth it.

Use a coathanger and do your best to wiggle the wire through to the door and either drill a hole in the door or try to squeese the new wire through the factory loom.

if you really want to,
connect the wires in the dash from your front speakers to the wire going to your back speakers and then just run new wires to your back speakers and connect the old ones for your fronts... if you can understand that

if not then just run new wires to everything like ^ said

What's the benefit of connecting directly to the speaker? Anyone with real life experience?

The factory wire is thin and crappy, upgraded wire will be better at carrying your signal without losing quality, especially since you're amping the speakers.

I mean it might be too tight in there. Have to check to make sure.

At 60 watts you may be OK with the factory wire. Hook up to the wire at the radio. What amp are you running and what speakers?

I wouldn't for two reasons.

1. Heat.

2. Degradation of signal quality.

I'm running polk 6.5 coaxials in the front. Ordered today on ebay the Phoenix Gold Octane-R 8.0:4 amp. Should be here next week.

I looked today at how I would run this into my door...it just scared me!! To get to the hole is nearly impossible...way too tight. On the passenger side would have to take off the heater, if not the whole dash. And on driver side the fusebox is in the way. There is so much mess that has to be undone in order just to get to the hole where the loom goes in. And then, I don't really imagine how it will be possible to pull the wire through, because it is not straight, it goes out, then down, then turns onto the door and goes inside the door...I think I should just drop this whole thing....and do it another way I guess it will take just forever...

It's not that hard but very tedious. I ran all my power window wires, actuator wires and jdm folding mirrors with the power mirror wires all in the rubber molex piece into the hole in the plug and into the door. Now I'm about to run some speaker wire cuz I'm amping them.

But...what if I try to run it the other way around? Take off the door panel and try to sqeeze in the wire from the door into the cabin? This way I won't have to unmount a ton of stuff in my car. What do you think?

[QUOTE=Hybrid Racer.]anything is possible.

just takes longer, run new wire right to the speakers , and if you want to hear the diff. , run the wire from the amp,do one side, wire the other side to the oem wire, put in your fave. tune, hear the diff. , wire the other side. 94

Ok people, I did it!!! Ran that damn 14 gauge wire into the doors. Didn't have to unmount anything in the cabin, only took off my fenders. Had to drill new holes in that harness that goes into the door and then the hardest part was to squeeze that wire through. The passenger side wasn't that bad actually, it's the drivers that was really tough. The wire bends like no other, so it was really hard to give it a push. I started around 10pm and was done by 4am. Still have to put everything back together though...but the wires are in. One small problem though is I ran short on wire...meaning I will have to buy more wire and connect it to the wire I ran. But it's not a biggie... Hope I will benefit from all this sweat I put into it last night.

PS. I'm leaving my stock tweeters with the stock wire. Don't feel like these suckers need a bigger one.

I forgot to ask one thing... Do I have to clean up from the harness and contacts the residue from the drilled plastic? I cleaned up the bigger peaces, but the smaller ones are still there, drowned in that contact grease. Will it work fine if I leave it like this? Will it short anyting or fry?

It's plastic it can't short anything out, and as long as there no pcs. big enough to jam a pin off to one side, no problemo. 94
