Maybe if you're racing some kid on a street, but on a track.....definitely a no no.
Track launching:
Figure out what your peak torque RPM is and launch about 800-500rpm lower than that. Say you're peak torque is 7500rpm. Hold your rev's at 7000rpm and when the first yellow light comes on, slip your clutch fast.
Yeah 7000 sounds high, but that's the way to do it. The key is the slipping of the clutch. Too fast and you might spin or bog. Too slow, and you'll just burn the clutch. You have to get it just right. Your 60ft time will be great with that. You should be getting 2.0's or lower.

Yes....like I said 800-500rpm lower than your peak torque rpm. How fast you slip the clutch after that is dependent on your tires and suspension setup. But that IS the CORRECT way to launch a car effectively.
Sounds high, and it is. But lots of people don't realize that's what you're supposed to do.
Turn on a drag racing show. Listen to those big dragsters when they're sitting at the tree. Listen to how high they're revving right before they take off. That's the same thing you have to do.

no
I would start at 2700 RPM and slowly work your way up. A customer awhile back was telling me just how fast his car was in the 1/4 in 15 minutes of practice and a G-Tec Pro he went from 5800 down to 3200 and gained .6
The G-Tec may or may not be accurate in the 1/4 but if you leave it in the same place it is consistent
Until you practice quite a bit it's hard to correctly feather the clutch and you will end up being very inconsistent so I recommend 2700-3200 and clutch drop
with decent tires this will give you the 15% tire slip generally thought to be best
i have a gsr in my hatch and i launch at 3-3500 on the streets. i have to try that new launch at the track. usually at the track, i would launch at 4500 and just get wheel hop and wheel spin. so i've been practicing on the streets, but need to try it at the track
5000 to 5500 on street and anywhere from 4000 to 5000 on strip depending on the condition of the track . high rpms 7000 and above means no traction vtec blows the tires causing wheel hop on street tires. but better the tires on front higher rpm you can leave at
7K too much. drag civics and etc. on tv leaving at high rpm or designed like that. they have the suspension , the fat drag tires, and any where from 800 too 1500 hp. which your reg. import owner doesnt have.
depends on setup.. but just practice using different rpms.. and be sure to slip the clutch dont just pop it.
