Default stock honda muffler

hello are the stock honda muffler a straight through design, or are they a "S" design I have a 89 civic with the stock muffler. i was curious because i was going to buy a dynomax turbo muffler with the S flow pattern and if its the same as stock honda muffler than im just going to get something that is straight through. thanks

I really doubt any honda muffler's going to be straight through. There are twists and turns in there to cancel out the sound waves.

Try putting a stick in it and see if it can go in farther then the length of the canister.

really, what difference does it make whether its straight or curved. If you think about it, you'll get more power out of a straight one simply because of the fact that the exhaust flows through, rather than having to bend and curve to get out.

And it's not even that much of a gain in power at that, but it depends on what you're looking for out of this. If sound is your goal, then get whatever muffler you want. Without any other mods you're not going to get as much power as you expect by changing the stock muffler.
