does honing mess up the way your engine seals?
i would think that honing would make your cylinders a slight bit bigger and your piston rings wouldnt seal as well messing up your compression. is this the case or does it not really mess it up?
Well, honing is usually done prior to assembly of a rebuilt motor, and in turn before gapping the rings(which should be new). but yes, your thinking is correct. A hone job "can" make a bore larger but usually is just a simple removing of the glazed surface so that the rings will seal. The diameter increase by honing is a tiny amount though, not sure on the exact number but i can't imagine most hone jobs remove more than about .05mm.
