Can some one please help me ASAP!!!
i have a 93 prelude, and i cant get the damn cv joint into the intermediate shaft!!! i cant pull off the hub bolt, because its rusted on. right now im trying to pound it in, with the axle still in the cv joint. i just have to pound it in enough so it will click into the ring. can some one help me!!??
make shure that the ring isn't "floating" out of the grove....if it portrudes on one side more than the other it will act like a stop and keep you from installing it......I hate axles
try spraying some lube in there so it slides in a little bit better
but first check the ring and if its in there correctly then try a lil lube

So it's the big 36mm axle nut that you can't get out?
I don't think you're gonna be able to get enough force to knock it in.
The way I did it was hold the axle straight aligned w/ the IS, then whack it on the end of the axle that goes into the hub. If you hit it hard enough, it will go in!
It seems to me the fact that it's still bolted to the hub will keep you from being able to hit it hard enough to pop in at the IS.

I'm not saying that for sure, it's just that it seems unlikely to me.

i got the axle nut off, and i can hit the axle all the way so its flush with the rotor, but it still didnt snap in. so do i have to take off the rotor and hit it?
If the axle if flush with the tranny and sealed you are fine. If you are still having problems put some grease on the axle and set the ring dead center so it's not sticking out too much in one direction. The grease will help keep the ring in place as well as act as a lube. I've had this problem and it's amazing how much the grease will help you!
its not the tranny side, its the driver side axle that goes into the intermediate shaft.....theres alot of grease in the cv joint...is there a way that i can bend the ring in a bit so it wont stick out so much in any one direction?
site? kragen is a local auto parts store. Find any that are near you and they should have it. Also try and use a wire brush and going with the grooves and clean it up a bit. There might be some rust or something that is causing a problem maybe (throwing out any bullshit I can!?)
Hi, take the ring off & see if the axle will slide in, if it does, then the ring is your problem. while the ring is off, squeeze it together then gently push it back on the axle so it is a tighter fit. Good luck....Tad
