Default High RPM ?s and Cat-Converter ?s

Hey everyone i have a 98 Accord Sedan 5spd 4-cyl and i have a few questions bout it.

First off i don't know if this is supported or not so if it's not just let me know and i won't expect anyone to answer me. Where i live their are no emissions testing at all and my cat converter has just gone out. i need to know what is the easiest process to take care of this...and i'm not buying a new one. i don't know if i can rod out the pellets or if mine has the new honeycomb looking thing in it. or maybe i should just cut it out and put a straight pipe there.

Second, i like to redline 1st and 2nd and i'm wondering what would be the best imrprovement for my engine while i'm doing this. And what i mean is like some new high compression pistons and stuff like that...not a supercharger or anything. Everyone give their ideas as to what i should change...like if spark plug wires would help, lemme know.

And last...for the first time the other day, i actually entered the red zone in 2nd gear and i don't know if the engine like kicked to make me stop...as in it's capped or something...or what. but i was wondering if you guys knew if my engine actually missed out or if it's capped. thanks

Take it easy on this n00b...i don't know much about this...but i change my own oil, so that has to count for something.

as for the cat, usually theres a hefty fine if u remove/hollow it out even if u do not have emissions testing, check with local laws, but if it is ok, goto a muffler shop and have them put in a straight pipe, or u can get a high flow cat for around $100 to replace the stock one

w/ a stock accord engine, redlining is probably not necessary, accord engines are not meant for constant high reving, but if u would like to keep doing this, go get a dyno done to see where ur peak power is, if redline is 6800 but peak power is at 6000, then ur losing power from 6k-6800 so reving that high is pointless, upgraded valve train and cams that would actually give u power that high/higher would be what you want, but spending all that money for a NA f series is not smart

if u want to rev high and still have power, swap in an h22, if u want the power, boost, any way u choose however, it will cost u a lot of money....

well it is still illegal here so a lot of places won't do it for you unless you know someone there. but it pretty much consists of hacking sawing in front of and behind the catverter and replacing it with a pipe right? i could probably do it myself and then weld it on just at home.

the dyno idea is kind of pointless if i can find someone who already knows isn't it? i guess the hard part is finding someone who already knows though. i understand what you're saying though about the 6k-6.8k loss posibility.

now as for the rest of that business i don't know what you're really talking about. what is a NA f series? and how much would i be paying for these new valve train and cams and how much would the improve do you think. i don't want to go out and spend all kinds of money so if you think i should just not do it i won't. i'm most likely NEVER going to change out the engine unless i can actually swap and just give someone mine and they give me theirs. but then again i don't know about all this. please gimme a lil more detail on stuff.

an f series is the engine you have. NA naturally aspriated, (or something close to that, i may be a little off on my terminology ) which means you arent doing any forced induction (turbo/supercharger). as twisted was saying, if you want your car to be fast, just doing bolt ons/valvetrain work isnt really going to give you the most bang for your buck. for that, you will want to turbo.
