Purple header to Gold?
Hey, I remember reading somewhere how to clean up a stainless steel header and make it turn from purple to gold. Does anybody know what to use? I thought it was a polish and I wasn't certain. A friend of mine suggested brake cleaner. Would that work? I tried searching but didn't know the exact words to search for.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I got that header, it was purple and red with crap all over it, just wanted to clean it up a little. I used Akumaracer's idea, and worked well for me, but I don't have to deal with very much foul weather in So Cal, so I don't know how it would hold up in rainy areas, so I would be careful if you car is a daily driver, or if it see's a lot of bad weather.
After sanding, and polishing the header, a few months later it started to turn a nice even gold, and doesn't look like it's 10 years old anymore.

The reason mine was purple, is becuase the previous owner put his hands all over it.
