boost--good or bad idea?

Some purists might say no. If you have a B18C5 then it's built for NA power. It's your motor though and a lot of R owners boost and love it.
You could always sell the B18C5 and drop a B18C1 (GSR motor) in it + have money left over. Boost that and it will be virtually as good as the R motor.
Like I said though, a lot of turbo R owners around. They will probably have better input than I.
Edit: forgot to mention that the B18C1 is also slightly lower compression so it would be able to handle a little more boost.

Well, you could spend 1500-2000 on internals and gain 20hp or spend the same money and get a used jrsc and get 40-50. Of cours if you have the money, turbo is the way to go to make lots of power. I personally would rather have the jrsc because the itr is my daily driver and I feel it would be a better set up than turbo for my needs. You have to remember that the R is a great n/a motor, not the greatest w/ forced induction. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it, as there are many happy owner's of boosted R's. If you want to make big hp then go turbo, if your like me and want 50% more torque at rediculusly low rpm's then go jackson. Whatever you do, enjoy!
