sanding bondo/contourls of rear quarters.
Im having so much trouble sanding the filler. I just cant get it smooth. I mean it looks smooth but when you feel it, its wavy in some spots. Then when i sand down that spot the wave is gone but theres a new one right beside it. I started out with a bucket of filler. Now its half empty and there is almost none on the car.
Im using a orbital sander with 100 then 220 grit. And i have a coark block im using to sand by hand after and i just cant get it smooth!!. Should i get one of thoese sanders that are like a double palm sander size? There all flat, would that help at all?
How would you best describe the contour of the rear 1/4. From as far as i can tell it comes down, goes in a bit, then back out. And this contour fades off towards the back. Im just trying to match factory here.
Thanks!

I've watched my body man do several honda quarter's and he usually uses a flat block and hand sands the contour. I think that your orbital is just a little bit much for the job. Nothing like some good elbow grease.
I tried again. I mixed up a bunch of bondo, put it on and did exactly what you said. As soon as i had a rough finish. I used a block and hand sanded it. Its nice and smooth. And for the contours at where the top of the bumper meets the body i used a impact socket as a sanding guide because it was rounded.
One trick i learned. If you have a small pit or something, dont try to sand it out because you will make a wave around it. Just mix up some bondo and just fill that small little pit.
Now ive got the passenger side perfect. I just have to finish off the drivers. Hopefully tommorow night we can spray a coat of primer.
The orbital works well for sanding the actuall car ive found.
Thanks! AnY other comments apreshiated
