just wondering if anyone has done a turbo on a b16 with an open atmosphere waste gate?

My question is i know it can be done my car has one but is put away for winter how loud is it ? I have heard VR6's and my buddies rx-7 with a t-78 on it with open waste gate and its loud anyone have one on the honda and how loud is it?

yes it has been done

 

Not too loud. I had the wastegate on my car vented to the atmosphere.

 

Almost every car with a turbo kit (except greddy) vents to the atmosphere.

Most hondas do this.

 

I have mine that way.... T3 with a Tial that dumps straight out. Trust me it is very very loud.

I am going to route it back in soon

 

My car sounds like a low flying prop plane from long distance.. very loud. 3" thermal doesn't help either

My friend travis had a closed loop wastegate set up, we went to the dyno and tried open loop and closed loop and the was a 40 hp difference open loop is the way to go if u wnat to realize all hp available

 

It's loud, but only when the wastegate opens up remember, so when you're not at full boost the car is going to be as quiet as your exhuast allows

 

im stupid.. does any have pics how this works.. can it be done to a drag III turbo kit??

 

The Drag lll turbo kit comes with an open wastgate anyways.
