Add power steering to 1992 civic cx hatchback?
Hey do u guys know if u can add power steering to a 1992 honda civic cx hatchback? if u can how much will it be? and what do i need? what parts do i need to buy and change to put power steering? thanx alot
sure its fairly easy...but why would you want to do it?>??? the price depends, will you do work yourself, were you get your parts...
rack, lines, bracket to mount it to an engine, actual p/s pump to attach, and a crossmember from a p/s equipped car.. ...
work involved and money spent = not worth the gains

Didn't you ask this same question about a month ago? Is Power Stering that important? That kind of defeats the purpose and desirability of a CX...light weight!!!
its really not that hard to drive a non ps hatch....you get used to it after a while...and your arms get mad deisel too!! hehe

Dude, I got the steering rack out of my SI sittin on the garage floor at home. It's yours for 50 bucks. plus shipping. It has all the lines, I think. I may have the fluid resavoir and power steering pump too. Since I no longer have the car, it doesn't do me much good.
the reason for getting power steering in a cx is because when u have a changed motor for example an LS Motor the steering would become very hard. no **** if i had a stock cx i wouldnt get power steering.
how ironic that you ask since i just took off me ps belt today on my 93 ex coupe..does anyone have any idea how much hp that may give me? at least 1 or 2 or more?
i kinda like not having ps..it's a good workout for the arms.

I did it. It was fairly easy if you have some mechanic experiences.
It was OK when my car was stock. After I did the swap, parallel parking is a nightmare (I have to deal with it everyday @ my school). You will need the following parts: B series P/S pump & braket, 5G P/S reservoir, rack and all the lines. The P/S rack is a little bigger than the manual rack. The bolts don't line up for the P/S rack bracket. That's why you need a crossmember from a 5G civic P/S equipped. If you can't access to a Xmember of a 5G P/S equipped, you can make a custom braket to hold the other end of the P/S rack. It took me about 3 hours to did the conversion. My life seems to be alot happier since the day I had P/S in my car.
