Where did you get the engine? I say it is already broken in at the manufacturing plant. So drive it like you stole it.

If this is a freshly rebuilt motor from the ground up, switch over to Synthetic and run Synthetic for the life of the motor. Don't rag on it until you have at least 2,000 miles. Everyone has different ways.

dump that 10 40 oil. if it has a total of 80miles on the life of the motor switch to 30w non detergent for proper ring seal. then change ur oil and drive the car kinda rough down the block. if it makes it then hammer the **** out of it.

wow , everyone has a different view and most are stupid.

first of all you only use ND oil for the first two heat cycles , i would never drive with that **** in my engine .

id search for earls post on how to break in a motor its good .

also you should follow the instructions of the person who built the motor.

im on 480 miles of my break in , i used ND motor oil on the initial startup , let it warm up , shut it down , let it warm up again . drain it and put 5w 30 in it . god only knows why you used 10w40 in a brand new honda engine , you need to be using 5w30. anyway after the 2 heat cycles put non synthetic 5w30 in it , dont go past 50% throttle up to 3500 , at 500 miles bring it up to 5000 , then at 1000 miles you should be good to go for synthetic . i changed my oil and filter every 200 miles which is overkill.

Oh great one, please enlighten us with your knowledge.....

I bow to you

Come man, everybody has a way of breking in engines. Honda, when engines are built will fire it and run it at pretty high rpms to test the engine out..

Does it matter that it is for a bike?

no it doesnt matter, it was also tested on bikes...basically any 4 stroke motor

"Street or Race Motorcycles, Cars, Snowmobiles, Airplanes & yes ...
even Lawn Mowers !!
( regardless of brand, cooling type, or number of cylinders."

Well, its not a breakin that you need. 97 000 kms is plenty time for things to seat.

They "say" it's 97k miles , but who knows you know it could be less it could be more....it was pulled out of another hatch so i dont if the motor has alot of miles of low miles. Just needed ideas of how to drive the motor. Sorry if misinformed.
thanks for all answers.
