Default scrapping noise, i'm thinking it's the axle...

this is a 2000 civic ex with about 81k miles. on a long road trip trip what sounded like a scraping developed in the passanger side front wheel well. the noise would go away for a while if the brakes were tapped. now, about a week later, the noise starts when going through a turn to the right, however, if you drag the brakes through the turn the noise isn't there. i'm thinking it's a bad axle. any other ideas?

Could be an old brake pad that has broken loose and is scraping the rotor. I've seen that happen before. What leads you to think that it would be an axle?

Check your rotors to see if they have to be turned.
