Default Car doesnt start

OK i have a 95 gsr pretty much stock...

the car cranks and sounds liek a running engine if you keep the starter motor going...but if you try and give it gas...it bogs and dies out...and soon as you let of the starter motor...it dies

its getting spark and i can hear the fuel pump turn on...any ideas where to start looking...

i filled up yesterday...could bad gas be a possiblity?

So as soon as you let go of the key the car dies?

If so sounds like an ignition switch.

If it was the main relay i don't think you would be hearing your fuel pump.

It is not always worn out.
There are 2 ways to fix it.

1. Install a push start so it bypasses the ignition part for the engine.

2. When you take apart the assembly, take off the white cap, try not to break the tabs, and clean the contacts and the areas on them. You prob. have a high spot, so all of the current is trying to get through a tiny spot, causing it to just fail. Do a search, I wrote a how-to on this not to long ago

i had the same problem at the track the other night it pry just vapor locked...try..

1.puttin the car in neutral
2.turn on the car with your foot all the way on the gas.
3.rev it a couple of times and see if that helps

ok as of now...

got the car started last night by startin the car...giving it a lil gas and then finding the ON position..

took it out drove fine for about 15min then just died....now it will still crank in the Start position but you cant hear the fuel pump...

we swap out the pgmfi main relay and replaced it...

any ideas?

when we put the car to the start position we're seeing 7.6 volts are the fuel pump

im thining possible the iginition was the intial problem...but also in the process ive fried the fuel pump..

Try a quick ECU reset, disconnect battery (negative) for about 2 mins, then see what happens, you'd be surprised how many times I have done this to fix strange problems.

SO the ingnition switch is fine now? Did you replace it? If possible try and find a pump and switch it out, or put a pressure gauge on the fuel line to see if there is any, I belive aroun 38-42 psi.

the ignition switch is fixed via a custom made switch w/ the same harness
it gets all the same fuctions ign 1,2,start...etc acessory

we couldnt seem to get the fuel pump to prime so we though it was the pgmfi main relay...but we finally tested it figured out it was good...so we proceed thru like 50 steps of troubleshooting figuring out it was pin A7 loose causing the ecu to not see power also not priming the fuel pump...cause I pull my ecu for safety when im at school...so my ecu hangs out....but its shorting somewhere...so im gettin prob a whole new harness and replacing it all...but for now a splice from the pgmfi relay to the ecu will have to work....hopefully itll work tommorrow w/ my crazy switch action

thanks prelittlelude (tommy j) & bdashrad (b-rad)
