Filling Tranny
I was filling my tranny with new oil and it was jacked up. It only took 1 quart before it fluid started coming out of the fill hole.
Do you guys think this was because it was on a slant with the jack? Should I put more oil in?
Oh yea the engine is a jdm d15b

Not a lot because it was a swap im assuimng, I just put the motor in. I drained it when it was on the hoist and it was leaning towards the passengers side.
I drove the car around teh block and the tranny makes a whining sound, its not enough fluid Im pressuming?

why are you filling it from the side? , just fill it from your vss hole. much easier and much clearner.
not sure how much was in there sounds like it was pretty empty. just put 1.8 quarts and you'll be fine. if you add 2 quarts your not going to do any damage either so its up to you.
and remember next time dont fill from the fill hole just keep that thing torqued as it is and fill from the vss.
no need for a damn washer every time. and no mess, and uses a 10mm bolt you screw hand tight. easy as cake. someone did a walk through on the board doa search to see what i mean.
and lets be honest you really think the dealership mechanics do it the hard way by filling from the side?? nah thats 30 minutes of pay they got filling it from the vss. which only takes 10 minutes.

I have been filling it from the VSS. There is another bolt though with a crush washer close to the axle that you can take off, which will tell you when the tranny is full.
I dont know where it is on the 7th gen but it is in the back of the transmission. This is one long 10mm bolt that connects it to the tranny. You just take that off and pull the sensor out, you can leave it plugged in.
Personally I like to use the side filler plug - why - because with the car sitting on level ground, any fluid over what is needed will simply pour back out of that filler hole.
With this method, you're gaurunteed the correct amount of fluid.
I don't know people find it so hard anyway...I use one of those twist-neck-locking-deallys and then an extra long piece of hose (it came with like 1 ft of hose - I used 3 ft). Just push the hose in, fill with 2 qts MTF, pull hose out, let overfill dribble out - done.
