Default stumped - help me out...

Ok I have been having some idle problems with my car, not a flucuating idle up and down..

But rather it wll stay around 1k, and then when u come to a stop it will drop down to almost dead and stay around there or try to bounce back up... The car NEVER dies, but its annoying..

I have changed - fuel pump, fuel filter, cleaned IACV, throttle body...

It almost seems as if the car isnt getting something, something I have no clue what it is...

motor is

b18c1
.25 over JDM ITR slugs [11.4:1] ish compression
stock airbox
jdm 4-1
2.5" mandrel bent piping..

Now some things that I have tossed over in my mind that might help solve the problem..

- new injectors?
- leak from gasket - my guess IM [had a hard time torqueing it]
- throttle body [ friend fug with the linkage, thinking it adjusted idle ]

thanks

Check tps and map sensors.
Have you done a tune up lately?

Has your idle been like this since you changed pistons? If so, check your timing, might be a bit off. That's what happened to me.

With high compression I was told that it would be necessary to retard the timing a bit. Stock it's at 16 BTDC, so you might need to set it at 14 or so. You'd need a shop to tune it properly though.

That's what I was told. I'm not well informed about comperession vs. timing, but that's a couple of shops have told me.

ok... NOW

the car just dies on coldstart, and when warmed up... It wont hold an idle..

I can drive it, full warmed up. Come to a redlight and when i stop and put the revs fall down, it will just stall out. Sometimes it wont, but its pretty close.

Could this be an ignitor/cap/dizzy problem, or maybe my timing is off by a tooth??

If it was a bad intake manifold gasket the idle would be way to high and it would never stall.

Exactly.

Cleaning the IACV doesn't fix it if it is bad. I have never had one go bad on any of my Hondas BUT I have seen them go bad on my Fords and they do what you are describing.

I would also check your battery/alternator. At idle, when the alternator is running the slowest the system relys on the battery since everything the alternator is putting out goes to run the ignition and ECM. If either of those are weak or failing they can cause problems like what you have described.

Cool thanks..

I think I better replace the IACV, and check timing...
