Default Front Panel Body Damage - Do these items & costs seem about right?

Went to a local Acura dealer today to get an estimate for body damage to the front passenger side panel. Got distracted at a parking lot and scrapped the front side on a pole !@#$# . The damage is limited mostly to the panel.

The dealer told me that the best thing to do is to replace the panel since the cost to bang it out would be about the same. Here is a breakdown of the costs:

Parts (Panel) - $356
Body Labor - 3.4 hrs @ $40/hr = $136
Paint Labor - 4.7 hrs @ $40/hr = $188
Paint Supplies - 4.7 hrs @ $24/hr = $112
Other Charges (disposal) = $5
Tax @ 4.5% (for parts only) = $16

Total charges ~ $814

Being new to bodyshop work, do the panels come without colors? His breakdown seems to suggest that. How hard is it to replace the front side panel. Just trying to get a low down on if this cost is reasonable or if I'm getting fleeced. Thanks all.

You have to take out the .orig.jpg

Edit: I have a dent in my front fender in the same place but it is worse. Just find a used fender in the same color.

That's about right.

Nevermind the fact that technically you should blend in the door/hood/bumper paint and that costs more money...

edit: pic removed, hungster beat me to posted it..

anyways, that doesn't seem that bad. Might be cheaper to find a fender for sale here though. A lot cheaper than 350 bucks.

A new fender will not be painted. Paint has to be matched. If you could find a used fender in the same color and same wear, you'd cut costs a bunch.

Once in a while there are some members selling fenders/panels off of their cars...which are already painted and ready to bolt on...I have seen a few members selling such..they may chime in.

Anyone selling fenders? How hard is it to install? Might be a biatch to know if the colors match prior to purchase, no?

Might be, but either way if you buy the fender for $50, you'll still save at least 275 after shipping the fender..

yep, definetly should blend, but if you want to save costs, leave the car there so they can match the paint close enough with the new fender, and then take it home, take the old one off yourself and put the new one on. It should save a decent amount of money. It really all depends on how **** you are about your paint.

Thanks. That's a lot of ways to save money. I just got through replacing the front end driver's side. Damn deer hit me - caved the fender in. And I got the bumper painted from a rear end. I didn't want to spend $2000+ this year fixing up body damage. Oh well. When it rains....

You're not too off the mark. I was at an E. Coast beach. What can I say... Actually I was putting on my seatbelt while my car was rolling <stupid> and a group of people walking got me distracted looking to the left when I should have been looking straight. The steering on the R is so sensitive. In a small parking lot like the one I was in - the slight drift proved to be fatal.

Hope you can get the car repaired. If you don't find a fender have you thought about getting an aftermarket fender? I'm assuming your original price quote was
for a factory fender. I know when I got into an accident with my Teg, I got an aftermarket fender for $100 but of course it's not painted. Keep us updated!
