ideally you want one with a starting low clearance of ~4" and goes up past like 22" so you can fit jackstands and stuff under there..

It took me forever to find an affordable hydraulic floor/shop jack with a low enough clearance to fit under my car, and I only have Eibach Pro-kits. I actually ended up getting one a Pep Boys that was mis-priced. It's a big, 3 ton capacity jack, with great features -- picked it up for only $50. Most of the good ones I found, with proper clearance, cost $200+. Also, in most of my experience, most of the "SUV" jacks wouldn't fit under the car, but most other normal jacks still lift high enough for jackstands to fit under the car.

Good luck.
