Has something to do with the seats I think. Mine does it too.

Helps if you put both feet on the ground before touching the door (after you've opened it, of course).

About three years ago, some folks had those ground straps that hung under the *** end of the car. Still not sure what those were all about

In the summer a lot of static electricity builts up. Just ground yourself before leaving the car.

you may also notice it worse when you are wearing silk, polyester, and other such materials.

That's actually a good thing. I've seen on tv where people filling up their cars caught fire because of a static electric shock while pumping gas.

I always touch my car before I even remove the gas cap because of the fear of a static electricity discharge.

They make JDM anti static clings but hard to find and not very popular.

Actually happened to a mother in an SUV here in Chicago last month. It set off an entire explosion at the place; it was pretty messed up.

I don't have that problem in my car since I still have the leather (terrible) seats in mine. However, simply ground yourself first...all will be fine.

The best way to ground yourself is when you get out of the car, keep one hand in the door handle in the arm rest bolster and keep a finger on the small metal screw in the middle of the handle.

Ought to fix the problem.

The negative reinforcement ought to help adaptation to the new habit.
