I removed my A/C and pulled out the lines in the front of the car, but what is everyone using to block off the rest of the line that's in the car? I don't want alot of dirt and debris to get in there in case I ever decide to reinstall the A/C system. Right now I just put duct tape over it, but I want something to look cleaner.

 

i would just use a vacuum cap that's one size smaller than the line. if it's a tight enough fit, it should keep moisture out of the system. make sure u cap/plug off the receiver/dryer too...

 

Where do I get a vacuum cap at? I don't think I've ever seen one before.

 

ok this is real ganster, but so am i haha. anyway, i would up taking a piece of tin and cutting it to fit in the hole where the 2 ac lines went into the cabin(its behind the battery in my car). i put some liquid gasket around the outside edges of the holes, and then put the tin over the holes. this was then held in place by puttin the bolts that used to hold the ac lines back through the tin and into the threaded holes. finished product was a piece of tin with 2 bolts in it..you are probably lookin for something cleaner lookin that this, but its just food for thought

 

just get in under the dash and remove that thing...... it's dead weight now anyway

you should just be able to remove those damn things. its not like they are welded to the engine. Besides, they will look tacky just hanging there!

No one is answering my question. I did not ask for peoples opinion on removing the rest of the lines or the evaporator. I removed as much of the A/C as I want to, the extra 2 lbs of piping is not worth my time. I may even put the A/C back in one day which definately does not make it worth my time to get behind my dash board and start pulling out the evaporator.

 

Man, just make a blockoff plate for it...a piece of steel, tin, aluminum, it doesnt really matter. Just cut it to the shape of the evaporator inlet/outlet in the firewall, run a bead of silicone around the outside edge, and reuse the bolts to tighten it down.

 

remove it from inside the dash then rap the box with black electrical tape bassically blocks off hole to engine bay and keeps the fan blowing to the heater core

 

If you have the lines disconnected @ the firewall Honda makes a rubber grommet to block it off for a cleaner look. And yes just use some caps around the ends of the hoses that fit snug. Go to home depot or auto parts stores and find out what they have and what size you're going to need.

Dont bother at this point when you decide to get your AC working again I suggest you get a new one.. once you allow it to be subjected to air it only takes a few min before you destroy it. so just throw it away and get a new one later.
