RE: Stant thermostat & colling system
first of all, today is hot as f1ck here in pomona and the lude overheated after a hour drive in stop and go traffic.
did anybody here have problems w/ stant thermostats?
also, about how much do honda thermostats go for?
when the top radiator hose swells, does it mean that the thermostat is not working?
keep in mind that i have a new water pump and i completely purge the air out of the cooling system. i changed the thermostat, hoses and radiator like about a year ago.
i checked the oil and no signs of radiator fluid. the cooling system is full of rad. fluid and no traces of rad. fluid leak. the cooling fans work fine.
im still going to change the thermostat and hoses, just wondering what you guys think.

Someone here just had trouble with a Stant T-stat, I think... But they're all relatively simple, you can probably find someone who had trouble with any brand you can name.
Getting a new one would be a safe thing to do. Replace the hose that's swelling, most likely the reinforcing of the hose has been weakened. If ALL the hoses are only a year old, maybe you can look at them & decide whether to replace each one.
Think real hard about replacing the radiator cap. If a bad thermostat lets you overheat, the cap is SUPPOSED to open up so the pressure doesn't go too high. If a new(?) hose got swelled up, it sorta sounds like that didn't happen.
