Default LS Tranny = More turbo lag?

I was wondering what you guys have to say about this. Is this true?

LS Tranny = More Turbo Lag?

GS-R / Si Tranny = Less Turbo Lag?

Thanks.

well the LS final drive should reduce turbo lag because of the added load on the engine. the 1st and 2nd gears themselves are the same on the LS and GSR tranny.

The Si/ITR tranny will have you spinning completely thru 1st and 2nd gear with ease. I switched back to my GSR tranny from an EG6 tranny for my turbo install and I still spin thru 1st gear like a pig on a mudslide. The LS gearset/FD allows boost to build better in first and second gear. Since LS gearset/FD aren't plentiful over here so I think I'm gonna get the OS Giken made Top Fuel long ratio turbo gear set.

Lag is mainly dependant on the sizing of your turbine...hth

BG boost, I think you should slap an LS final drive in your GSR tranny. that way you get the close ratio gears of the GSR tranny but with the longer final drive.

the longer gears allow more boost to build. I believe the LS tranny equals LESS LAG. The 500hp GSR in SCC uses a LS tranny. Must be a reason for that...

That same GSR also only runs 12's. Fast yes, but not very fast for 500 HP and slicks.

But yes, longer gears will yield more usable power. If you could put down all that power to the ground it would be faster with the GSR tranny, but in reality you just can't put down all that power and as a result it's wasted.

Yeah, I think the guy wastes a lot of power because of traction issues.

your theory is correct. the simplest thing for you to do would be to go to a gsr tranny. not as tight as the b16 and not as long as the ls. especially on your ls motor. great street set up.

I ran 11.80 @130 mph on a Stock TypeR tranny... As u can see I have no traction what soo ever, but I think it is awesome for the street.. No LS Here
