need some help
Backround info on car: just purchased car 5 days ago. Its a 1990 crx dx. It has a 98 dx motor, but its still dpfi and obd0. Car ran good for 1 day.now here are the multiple problems I have encountered in the past 4 days
1. Half of the stock exhaust fell off. Now it putters and backfires hard at high rpm's.(5500-6000)
2. Car battery died. I jumped it and it would die 2 minutes later. I replaced the battery and the terminals. The battery light stays on but it will go away at high rpm's and than returns when I switch into the next gear. Also when I was jumping the car at night I had the positive connector on the negative terminal and vice versa. Not sure if that did anything.
#2 is my biggest problem because it won't run right when the battery appears to be weak. The battery fuse(the big 60 amp one) is black but dosent appear to be split in half.
HELP!!

crossing the terminals is NEVER a good thing. My bro did it on his car (1991 Nissan NX1600) and it fried a BUNCH of wires. start lookin for burnt ground wires and any wire. look near the alternator too, sounds like it's fried.

1. Go to a muffler shop and that should take care of problem #1 (unless you want to do the work yourself)
2. Charge light is lit up because...1. alternator is dead or 2. Belt is loose (which I would assume in your case because light goes away at higher rpm's)
3. Replace the fuse anyway and worry no more.
