Default Safe to turbo?

i have an obd1 gs-r with jdm type r pistons and type r shotpeend rods. The head at this point is stock. And i'm doing uberdata in fairly soon(no tuners for hondata in NE). I was originally going to do a mild all motor setup. after doing a little researc i have found people can turbo type r's with proper tuning. At thsi point what will be the better bang for the buck? Numbers don't concern me so much, i just want to know is the turbo worth the extra time and effort if done properly?

U should be good with a turbo set up just don't be cheap with your components especiallu engine mangement. And as always get it tuned right.

one other thing i need to figure out is external or internal gate. I know if i eventually wanted to run more boost external is the way to go but i doubt i could go higher than 8lbs.
