B18C-r Turbo Questions???????
Ok I want to turbo my b18c-r motor, do i have to do internals since it has such high compression what psi will it be safe enough to drive around i need this setup to be reliable this is going to be my first turbo setup ever but im real familiar w turbo kits ive been helping out my buddys for years, and i always get ***** n giggles out of boost lol.
Im mainly looking for around 300whp nothing too crazy just wondering if i have to put pistons n rods no matter what since the type r is already high compresion any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Car will be tuned on Hondata S300 by King Motorsports.

Re: B18C-r Turbo Questions???????
see the thing is b18c-r(b18c5) moto comes with 11:1 cp and that not good for boost.you cant still boost it but the room for error is very low(as in 1 wrong run and boom!!) if your gonna leave it as is just make sure its a skilled tuner and it will last a while.
or u could tear down the moto and spend 1k on sum pistons and rods and enjoy it for a long time with more than 300wp eaisly..
your choice

the good thing about that is that you can turn around and sell the pistons and rods to someone looking for an all motor set-up compared to other d and b series trying to resell internals.
if you keep stock internals you'll have to tune conservative and really keep an eye on it. also, it all depends on what size turbo/injectors/etc you plan on going with if you want to run 300whp
personally if i had an R engine i would run it all motor. especially if its your daily. boosting a daily is tough enough with having down time, none the less a high cr engine.

or you could throw in a thicker cometic head gasket with some arp head studs. There is a guy around here that ran 344whp on his R for a few years with no problems. I think he ran a 3mm thick gasket.

I was just going to say that but even with a thicker gasket the most you can run would be 8psi....GL with whatever you choose to do man!

i know a guy who ran a 57trim on a b18cr on eCtune was pushing 320bhp ~~(flywheel) has since gone forged but didnt have any issues with DET, and since took the head off the pistons etc looks sweet no sign of DET. Its all in the tune.
