My interest for Honda's are growing and I just need a tad bit information. Now I am probably thinking of buying a 1993 to around 1996 Honda Civic. But, before I do I just need to know a bit of info. Now I think the EX or DX has the highest horsepower out of the bunch? I'm not sure to tell the truth . Also would it be worth to add boltons to a EX or DX? I was thinking maybe Turbo so I wouldn't have to do a engine swap?

'92-'95 EX and Si have a 1.6l engine with 126 hp. It is physically stronger than the 1.5l 102 hp engine in the DX and LX. Both engines will respond to bolt-ons, but the EX/Si engine will be more tolerant of boost.

 

The ex has about 125hp. The dx on the other hand is barely in the 100hp range. If you really want civics between those specific years I would suggest any of the following: Civic Ex 125hp, Civic si 125hp (hatch), Del Sol si 125hp, or the Del Sol vtec 160hp. All except for the Del Sol vtec are single cam motors. Oh and if you don't know already the Del Sol vtec is a 1994 to 1997 car. And if the Del Sol vtec is a 1996 or 1997 then you'll have a b16a3 motor.

 

Thanks alot . I asked a question about the 1993 LX before and you helped me there too (Jim Truett) . This was just a question my son had. He is more interested in the EX and Si now, because he doesn't want a engine swap. Ha he is like like me lazy .

DOHC VTEC y0!

 

EX and SI models hav the most power and come equipped with VTEC.. but you should just swap a DOHC

 

do you want a 4 door, coupe or hatchback??

 

Do a GSR swap... I have the SOHC Vtec... lots of parts for it.. but if ur gonna do something big go all the way.

 

a turbo kit would be more expensive then a swap.. get a LS swap (around $1,000) and a Zex 75 shot if you need it faster
