maintenance: spark plugs @ 55k mi.
yesterday i changed out my spark plugs at 55k mi.
part number 98079-5614h (ngk platinum pfr6g-11).
i noticed (facing motor) that the plugs were noticably more corroded/dirty from the left cylinder to the right. also, when i peered into the plug ports, i noticed a lot of dirt/debris.
anyone have any ideas on why the two far right cylinders were much more fouled? pics below.

far left plug - relatively clean.

far right plug - lots of brown stuff that appeared to be dirt?

fouled plugs - left to right facing motor.
again, from the pics, the plugs are noticably dirtier on the pulley side of the block. any ideas?
i noticed a big difference after changing them out along with replacing the distibutor cap and rotor.

i don't wash using high pressure. however, once in a while i'll use the filtered water from the diy wash garages. :hmm:
but i still find it strange that the right cylinders are dirtier than the left ones.
the plugs are rusty on the right...and clean on the left.

About time you changed your plugs. I would have changed them at 25k or 30k miles already. Along with all the other spark stuff minus the wires.

it's just from trapped moisture that caused the rust over time. Ever do a valve adjustment? Possible to leave the spark plug wire boots a little loose.
my spark plugs and wires went bad at 7k miles. yes 7k, acura replaced all of them and wires under warranty. they couldn't figure out why it went bad, neither could I
Ive noticed something like that myself. A couple of times when it rained real heavy I got a little water in the spark plug cavity which was causing the car to misfire. After looking in there I noticed there was a little pool of water in the 2 on the right. The other 2 had some also but only about half as much as the right 2.
Way overdue for a plug change. The electrodes are not horrible, but they are definitely worn. I don't see anything to indicate internal problems, as I was made to think by reading the text (key word: fouling).
The rust is definitely from water sitting in the plug 'bay' or whatever you call that channel in the ITR valve cover. Don't wash your motor so much, it's not good for it. If you do wash it, bag the electrics first (dizzy, fuze blocks, etc)., dont use high pressure (or any significant pressure), and then drive it after to dry it out.

Are those the plugs that R's come with from the factory?

not that it's a good thing - though i'm glad it's more common than i had thought.

The 01 that I know of came with Densos. I thought it was very odd that it did because I thought it was common knowledge that they came with NGK.
