So I went to carlsbad speedway today, all in all had a fun time. This was my first time at the track so my times need some working on, but I think they're decent for my first time...

Car is a 99 civic si with apex'i power intake, jdm header w/ 2.5 collector, and apex'i n1 catbak with 2.25 inch piping. My tire pressure was at 18 psi on shitty *** wanli generic tires.

That 60ft is horrible. If you could pull a 2.2 you'd be in the 14's

you really think 14s? I thought maybe a 15 flat but not 14's but hm, time to get some good tires! Also keep in mind, I was running on some shitty *** wanli tires, so that has a lot to do with my horrible 60'. I never thought a 99-00 Si with i/h/e was even capable of hitting 14's..

Times seemed a little slow for everyone today though, maybe it was the heat.

I ran:

16.4 with a 2.45 60ft
15.9 with a 2.26 60ft

It makes THAT much of a difference...trust me

Actually reaction time doesn't even matter for your 1/4 time. You can sit at the light for 5 seconds and it wont change anything.

Do you really think I can be in the 14's? and by 14's do you mean like 14.9 or lower? Also, once again I never thought a 99-00 si with I/H/E could ever hit the 14's...

 

EWW your 60ft is nasty.. you should be hitting a low 15 with a good run... work on them take off's bro u aint got that much power yet.

Whomeever thinks that car has a 14 in it is smoking crack. The trap speed does not indicate a 14 second time, in fact, its just where a stock si traps. I ran 15.8 @ 88mph with less then 1,000 miles on the odo in my Si. Not one single mod or form of weight reduction. 15.5 @ 89-90 with only intake, and 15.1 with intake and header at 91mph. I would say I MIGHT have been able to get a 14.9 if I had an absolute perfect launch, but it would not be something I could pull off all the time. Any way you slice it, the car in question does not have a 14 in it.

General rule of thumb is every .1 you shave off the 60 = .2 in the 1/4. 18psi is rediculously low for street tires also.

ya I know, keep in mind this was my first time at the track, and I'm honestly really not that great of a driver...I'm going back next week so maybe I'll see some improvements, but what PSI should I put my tires at since you're saying 18 is too low?

my buddy's 00 si ran a 15.1 with a home-made intake (which is a big joke) and greddy exhaust..... my factory stock b18c ex coupe (+20hp, +20 lb-ft vs stock si) runs 14.6....... thus, high 14's in an i/h/e em1 is perfectly reasonable.

i was also on crappy bald 14'' steelies, i think the 16'' slips would have been better... where are you launching at? first run, launch at 5k spun the tires throughout (hence the higher trap)... second run was at 3.5k, kinda hopped and went.

i'm launching around 4.5-5. the race when I got my 15.6, I slipped and dumped the clutch, ahah I can't really explain it. what track did you go to?

 

i ran a best of 15.54 in my 95 ex. I had 14 inch econo steelies down to like 17 psi. And befor i had done that i was at like 25-30 psi and was running 16.1's all day. So i think that tire pressure dose make a difference even if they are stock street tires.

 

i was running at infineon raceway (sears point)... they've got that infamous "slope up the track" and wind coming down from the mountains. the place is arrite, not really level at the start though either

15 flat, maybe.. but your trap speed still tells me that car isn't making any more power then a stock Si... which isn't right. Try running 25psi or so.. 18 is a bit low for a street tire...

hmm.. ok I'm going back next weekend I think and I'll definately try that..unfortunataly I think I'm still gunna have to use my shitty *** generic tires, until I get some cash for some new fronts.. haha

 

I was at Carlsbad too and it was a hot one.

Your time is defintelly good for your first time. Damn respectable. If you get that 60ft down, I'm sure you'll be a happy camper.

Launch on the last yellow light before the green also. Of course it won't help your 1/4 mile time but it could be the differance between winning and losing right?

I might go to Carlsbad next weekend too, and if I do I'll try and find you to say sup!

not bad, i def think you can improve though, new tires will make a huge difference.

with stock set-up with cai, didn't change tire pressures (didn't know what i was doing) i ran a 15.73 @ 89.3 mph

i think you can get down to the 15.0-15.1 range with a good launch and good tires.
