Does it matter that I have an auto tranny and gettin a cluster that doesnt show the p.r.n.d etc? and How hard it it to change clusters on a 92 dx?

Auto tranny has a tach right? Why the hell do you want to down grade to no tach?

 

I have an dx cluster right now. NO TACH!
I want a tach!

opps my bad, i read wrong. I thought you said auto tach instead of autotranny.

You could swap clusters out like everyone else. Just if theres not P.R.N.D on the gauge youll have to look down to see what gear your in. But you should be use to putting it in gear that you dont need to look.

 

its easy to swap clusters. when i had my auto cluster (auto-manual conversion) i would drive around in park until i swapped interiors with an si. cluster is easy to take out. pop out hazard switch and clock. take out screw back there. take out 2 above cluster. pull out bezel. remove 4 screws on either side of cluster. remove by tilting it forward. pop out the 3 (?maybe 4) harnesses. and reverse to install the new one.

clock is screwed in from behind the bezel.

 

oops, yeah forgot about that, oh well he would figure that out.

Soo if I dont have a clock...should I just take of the cover thing?? And how to I pop off the hazard switch?

This is how you should take your cluster off/replace it. I have a DX as well. First thing, is, pop off your hazard switch. To do this take a sharp flat-head screwdriver, or maybe a knife, and stick it in the edge of the entire hazard switch. (Your really popping off the plate, not just that switch. Once you get that out, your going to have a harness on the back of it. Take that off by pushing down the little switch and pulling. Now, check if there is a screw behind the hazard switch, it shouldn't be too unnoticable. I don't remember if there is one or not there. Next step you should take is take out the two screws located on the top of the bezel. They are right above your steering wheel/guage cluster. Ok, next step is to take that screw driver/knife and pry off your entire bezel. It might be a little dificult because you don't want to break anything. There are little clips on the end of the bezel which are holding it in place. Once you have that off, you have access to the wires that connect to the clock, just take those out like you took out the hazard switch lights . Getting your guage cluster removed is very simple. There is four screws, two on each side. Take those off, than pull the guage cluster out some for easier access to the backside of it where you need the to remove the switches. There will be 3-4, not sure exactly how many. They are just like the other switches you removed before. Get those out and your guage cluster is free for you to change. Just swap it out with the new one you have, hook all switches up and you have a new guage working. Oh yah, test it before you assemble everything. Don't want to have to do it again if it was a faulty one.
