Default Is Simple Green safe to use on paint?

Does anyone know if Simple Green is safe to use on paint under the hood?

I have to clean that rustproofing out of my engine bay ASAP.

Thank you,

under the hood in a diluted form yes...I wouldn't use it straight up as it may eat off some paint...make sure you completely spray it down w/ water afterwards too!

Simple green is awesome. When I was in my auto class they had CLEAR simple green and I used that stuff like no other.

dilute the mixture as much as possible. if it is not cutting away the grease, then thicken up the mixture with some more SG

there is an automotive version of simple green that dosen't need diluting for most stuff. i've used it on the outside paint with no problems

Benjamin, is it by any chance called simple green pro?

One more question, do you guys think it would be better if I degreased it while it is warm or cold?

my spray bottle just says "simple green automotive" on it... sorry the label got too wet too often and most of it has come off

i think it's best that you do it cold. someone warned me that too much heat can cause adverse/accelerate chemical reactions that would eat the finish?

Thanks Ben, I started yesterday. The stuff lathers up like soap, I have to rub very hard but it does come off very slowly. I could actually see white. I'm about 1/3 there!

I have to use a paint brush for the small crevices. Its a pain in the ***, I keep telling myself I wish I had'nt had started this. Its going to take a lot of time and patience to finish this.

well, don't go ballistic and it won't... unless there is a lot of gritty stuff in the gunk u are trying to clean off.
