Default The project...cleaning help.

Needs some help in finding the best method to remove the rust proofing from the bay. Im taking the engine out and repainting the whole car. I've had some luck with acetone, but its very time consuming.
What would be the best way to get rid of this crap, and get it down to the paint/metal...besides setting it on fire...

Suggestions for chemicals, and removers?

If the engine bay is going to be empty, you could use Aircraft Paint Stripper. It'd get rid of most of the gunk that's built up.

Any specific kind?
Or are they just generic?

Will that aircraft paint stripper damage anything?

if that doesnt work you could use a heat gun and give a little heat to the rust proof stuff and scrape it off...then use some sort of chemical to clean off the little stuff...

Aircraft Paint Stripper can be hard on the rubber so you will want to take some caution with that. Other that thats its good stuff.

Remember to wear gloves or cover any exposing skin. That stuff hurts!
