Default gen 2 alternator question!!!! plz help!!!!

ive read that the only way you can take out the alternator is by removing the intermediate shaft and the axle... tonite i heard from a buddy of mine that its possible to take it out from the passengers side, like under then down? im nto sure how he means but has any1 else heard of this???

thanx guys

unbolt it from the top, then you have to move it to you right, towards the passenger side. once you do that grab it from the bottom of the car. you're probably gonna have to kind of play with it a little to get it out.

this is how i do it and i have a 91 DA. should work. you don't have to take off the IS, and the axle. that's a lot of work for a little problem

well you did it right

earlier i went to take out the alternator and got everythign unbolted except the bottom bolt, got under the car and realized that there was no way in hell the alternator was comin out the passenger, i had like 3-4 inches to work with TOPS and if u have ever held an alternator, you kno that this isnt happenin... so yea the axle has to come out

im sayin **** it, im not tryin to deal with this **** im just gonna tow it to the acura dealer and have them do it for 170 + tax

an axle takes 5-10 minutes to remove... ive done a few alternators in my time on DA's and i have no problem taking out the axle. oh, i've dont a few axles too though. why is it such a drag to pull an axle? takes me 15-20 minutes to replace 1 axle w/ scissor jacks and hand tools on the ground

its not worth it to pay 170 to put it in. its easy, just a lil time consuming
