For those with Z10 bars... Alignment Process
What is the process for alignment. I know the bars change your toe a little bit. Should I put them on, preload them, and then take it in for an alignment? How much have you guys preloaded? I hear people quantify it in "turns," so how many turns do you preload with? How far does this throw the toe out of spec?
TIA
TIA
i rasied my car, did two complete turns of preload on mines. Havent had any alingnment problems yet, no abnormal tire wear, had them for about 4 months now. I would adjust the preload first and then take it to an alignment shop.
Go to a good shop that has a decent rack(laser, preferably). Either adjust the preload before you arrive, or, better yet, have them do it as they have the car on the rack. This worked quite well for a friend of mine.
Ideally, the same number of turns should be the same preload on both sides. If it's not, when you get it aligned, should the numbers be the same on both sides? I'm not talking about turns on the arms, I'm talking about the number of positive or negative caster number generated by the alignment machine. Ex. if the driver's side has +.78 caster and the left side has +.88 but both sides have the same number of turns, preload. Should I get the numbers as close together when I align it even if the turns would be off by 1/4 or 1/2 a turn?

Preload to meet specs?
i don't know much bout the z10 bars, but when i align cars with adjustable caster, i always give the right caster a .5(half) degree lead over the left caster to compensate for road crown, i guess you can either preload them or leaves it as is and get it aligned, cause you don't know if it will or will not be in specs untill they measure/compensate the car. just make sure you tell them that your caster is adjustable or else they'll just only set your toe
