I want to chip my p28 myself...
Well what i am asking is what is the minimum watts for a soldering iron...
will i be able to solder a chip with a 25watts iron? or should i need a 60watts...

I used a cheap 3$ iron from the local dollar store and it worked fine. I've done 15+ ecus with it with no problems at all.

any cheap soldering gun will work fine for an ECU its when you start to solder big heavy wires and such that you will need a bigger better gun

 

all it needs to do is heat up enough to melt solder, if your not sure try it on an old video carld or something.

I use a 15watt to solder ECU stuff with.
I have a 25watt that I use when i'm using desoldering braid
