lots of ball joint problems/spring questions/axle questions
well i was putting my new springs and shocks on today, and man did i ever remember how bad i had screwed myself over while putting all my suspension back together after the swap. i pretty much destroyed ever really being able to reuse and get the castle nuts off most of the joints so now ive decided that i will just replace them. my question is about the ball joint is what is the proper name of the tie rod joint? is it just called tie rod ball joint. i suppose ill need to order two and just replace the both of them while i do my lower ball joints. i guess i should even take a re-look at the upper joints. will i be able to remove the tie rod ball joints the same way as the lower ball joints? i screwed myself by nailing the end of the thread with a hammer.. yeah
on me. from now on ill just rent the damn press to do this kind of work.
also i have a question about the h&r springs im installing on my koni yellows. it seems once i get the shock assembled you have to use a spring compressor. i thought i read because of the aftermarket springs i wont have to use the spring compressor. but as it stands right now i don't see any other possible way of getting it assembled as one whole piece. anyone got some feedback on this?
also, with my axles. im using the xsi integra axles that came with my swap. after inserting them into the hub of my spindle on one side - one sticks out about 1/4 or more further out than the other. is this a problem? did anyone else notice that one side sticks out a bit further than the other. also, when i attempt to tighten my axle nuts down on the axle they seem to get tight really fast. i just don't want to mis thread these. so does anyone remember there axle nuts getting real tight real fast? thanks for everyones help.

Either take a pickle fork, or a Big ****** hammer to it, seeing as you already destroyed the threads.

with all the aftermarket lowering springs i have seen they dont require a spring compresser. i know there is one maker that makes shortened shocks. but i am unable to remmember the name. have you set the springs on the strut to see yet?

What kind of transmission are you using? If its a YS1 then the intermediate shaft is about 1/4 -1/2 of a inch longer then the USDM LS intermediate shaft.
Yep Tie Rod Ball joint.

yes i have tried to put the strut and spring together and the spring simply is just too expanded to get the nut on to hold the spring onto the strut. since the spring is expanded the bumpstops sits up higher than they normally should which is making it impossible for me to get the nut on the end of the strut to fully secure the assembly.
also the spring mount, the part that sits on top of the spring and secures it to the inner fender of the car, is sitting alittle crooked. will the pressure when i get the nut on and then setting the car on the ground correct this? by the way, i know for a fact that both the springs and shocks are for my car.
yes and i am using the ys1 transmission. so are you agreeing that it should be about a quarter longer on one side than the other?
and what about the axle nuts, are they supposed to get tight only after about 4 or 5 turns?

Use the USDM Integra intermediate shaft and axles. That should solve your axle problems, oh yeah did you remove the dust shields from the hub? Your suspension setup should work easily if you say that they're the right one.
id rather just use the ys1 intermediate shaft and axles, unless it simply just doesn't work.
dust shields are gone.
dust shields are gone.
if the axle issue is a huge issue i have a da integra int shaft for sale-50 bones shipped. pm me if you need it.
as for the ball joints the easiest way i have ever done them was with an air hammer and a impact socket as my press. worked really well. with the tie rods you want to be sure to mark where they were/count how many rotations you did when removing them so your alignment is completely screwed before you can take it to get aligned.

you can still use the YS1 axles, but you HAVE to change the intermediate shaft to a 90-93 LS one. The YS1 simply wont work, and your axles will bind
