I read recently that the intermidiate shaft is neccesary to stop torque steer under hard accelleration. I'm not sure of the years involved, but if I find out...
All intermediate shafts are interchangeable from the G2 Integras. You can use any 90-93 Integra axles on them as well.
This is stolen from a web site, but go visit them tho get the info:
http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/4gtech.html The B16A1 is almost identical to the 160hp U.S. Del Sol VTEC (B16A2). The Del Sol motor does NOT bolt in either. Since the D-series transmissions are not compatible with the B-series motors, you should purchase the Y1 transmission along with the motor. If you can, buy the motor and transmission as a package, not separately. Some of the Y1s have the highly desirable factory LSD. LSD should be imprinted on the transmission casing, so search carefully. If a Y1 is not available, a 90-93 Integra LS transmission will work, but the gear ratios are not designed for the high rpm VTEC engine and will hurt acceleration. With either tranmission you will need to modify the shift linkage to fit. A few people have managed to get Si-R shift linkages from Japan and these work perfectly. http://www.hasport.com/News/Ar...s.htm The middle intermediate shaft, comes with B16As that were in 89-91 SiRs. The easiest way to tell if you have one is if you B16A engine serial number starts with a 5, or you transmission has a Y1 sticker on it. As evidenced by the picture comparing the Integra intermediate shaft and the SiR intermediate shaft, you see that the SiR intermediate shaft is about an inch longer. http://userpages.umbc.edu/~bhu....html Good breakdown of the different transmissions available. http://www.sportcompactcarweb....1.pdf honda engine swap guide.

all manual intermediate shafts are interchangeable from the G2 integras. Auto intermediate shafts will not fit into a manual trans AND bolt to the back of the block.

Thank you sleeper4dr. I should have clarified this. I figured he probably already thought that part. assuming=
