F DOHC i got a SOHC turbo for $1800 ($400-$500 less then your B16) and it will **** on a B16 when i get it running (lets hope)
I say buy a D15B from http://www.hmotorsonline.com and call it a day.
... Then boost it if you want to

I would say do compression and leak down tests on the motor. But if you want to swap on a budget, go with another d16z6. A lot of people are saying go d15b, but I think parts for it would be hard to find. Might as well go with the z6 since it has huge after market support.
As far as boost goes, make sure you do all your research because going with a FI car requires a lot more maintenance.

it is a vtec motor, look at the stamp on the front of the engine block to the left of the header. it should say d16z6. it just doesnt have it marked on the valve cover.
just like he said^. yeah its sohc vtec

if it runs good boost it, i was preparing to do that to mine (before i blew the motor)
but if u swap go b18b despite the way most look at them, they are awsome motors
