How To: Civic Hatch w/ GSR swap VA
I live in VA, and i posted a topic similar to this earlier, but it got moved to the classifieds section, where I still cannot post. I'm looking to buy a Civic HB and soon after performing a GSR swap. Within the next year I also plan to turbo the GSR motor, because I have a turbo saab now and feel like i still need turbo.
Where can I go about installing a GSR motor in my area? How much will it cost me?
Is japan star motor any good? Do they do engine swaps?

get the motor from japan star and if you really cant do the swap your self. have the motor shipped to InlinePro. http://www.inlinepro.com
not sure how far you are from Roanoke,VA,but i run a small business doing swaps and other performance related jobs.if you can't find anybody in your area, let me know.

I'm in falls church.
Chris, how much would you charge for a swap like this though? How much should I expect a business to charge? How difficult would the swap be to do myself? A day job or a week job? I have access to a lift at the Ft. Myer Auto hobby shop, so with some friensd and a manual could this be done?

i'd completely recommend you do it yourself-the knowledge you will gain is great.with the right tools,a manual and even some friends, you should be able to do your first swap in a day or maybe two.
i usually charge $500 for that swap,i think you'll find most shops charge more.

great, i'm glad you could tell me straight up that I could do it myself, instead of telling me I have to go to you because you have the best deal and all that. I would love to do it myself but didn't know if it was something incredibly difficult to do or not. My friend has a full mechanics tool set, and I ahve this great access to a lift. I'm always looking for ways to gain expertise in the automotive arena.
What do you think about my motor idea? Should I go with that or something else if I will be turbocharging in the near future?
Thanks.

Get your motor from noyan motors in manassas and if you dont put the motor in yourself take it to inline pro in springfield. If you want to go turbo, buy one of inline pro's kits and let them tune it because they actually know what they are doing. I wouldnt trust anyone else in the nova area.

but wouldn't a much smaller price to pay for quality work be better?
