Ok, well some of you may know that I recently acquired a beautiful '91 Crx EE8, the car is outstanding, im very very sad...
Anyways, ive been running into nothing but problems trying to figure out how to get this thing back to the U.S. Its not looking good, ive been quoted $10,000 for importing it.
This is basically my dying call for any help. If anyone knows ANYONE who can help me get this car back to the states, please contact me. If not, its going up for sale.
Ill deliver to any country that touches Belgium (Luxembourg, Germany, France, NL etc...) If the price is right...
Anyone have a lifeline I can use

You can't just get it shipped over?
I'm confused as to what the problem is, I guess.
My friend in Japan got quoted like a grand to get a car shipped to the coast. I don't know who he contacted about it....but aren't there companies that will ship something that big from your location?

Yea, shipping isnt the problem though, its the import conversion that is going to cost me my first born.
I contacted my transportation office, and they told me that they wont even put the car on the boat until i have a written contract with an importer in the States who will take control of the car once it hits U.S. soil to start the conversion.
Ive been quoted $10,000 so far for a conversion, its rediculous. Does anyone know of any importers? Im in a bind, i really dont want to get rid of this car
If you could find out who your friend used, i would be most grateful.

Here's my for sale thread if anyone is interested.
I had posted pics a couple months ago when I was planning on buying it... Now i have run into a few issues with my wife and it looks as if I dont have the money I need to get it imported. (No, we arent getting divorced, she fell and broke her leg + 8 months pregnant)
My "import my car" fund was quickly diminished
I know most of you are in the states, but there are a few that are in Europe, if I dont get any bites, its heading to local dealers and ebay.
Thanks for looking

just use a shipping company, not with your armed services...have it shipped here, tow it to your house from the port and then get a black crx title and swap vins...

shady, but still the best way.
Most people pull the motor - ship and bring it through customs as OFF road use only. Then bring the motor in and do it how they please.

Yea thanks man, i read that already though
I happened across it about 2 weeks ago.
Im hoping someone out there owns an import company, or knows a good friend who owns one who will write me a contract so i can get my car imported, then just rip it up when I get the car there
Who knows, ive got a little bit of time, but i need to make a decision quickly so i dont lose my *** on this

Would this not work?
At what point is a body/shell/vechicle considered a 'complete' car and not just some parts that are getting shipped around?

Mr Valentino, you, sir, are awesome if you can find anything out.
Hey Jonathan, as for taking the engine out, Im not sure if that would work. I need to reread some informaiton about shipping a body - engine and see what the rules are for that. It might be an idea though.

From my understanding you can send the engine with almost no problem. But due to the body of the CRX having the german?(i don't know)vins you will have problems there i'm sure. But as for the switching out of the vins you will have to change the vin under the windshield, then the sticker that doesn't remove easily...then the inprintation unter the hood on the body. Its alot of work but it can be done. The body is gonna be the downfall
