Default Getting new tires

Im planning on getting rid of these crappy stock tires and getting some decent ones. I've heard a lot of good things abotu the Kumho 712 so Im probebly getting that. My question is is it really worth it to change all 4 tires at the same time? Or should I just get them for the front 2 since its FWD?

I don't know about anyone else, but I would want them to match for several reason.

Looks.
Consistent feel from front to back. (different sidewalls ride differently)
Cornering.
Do you never rotate your tires?

I have friends who tried to auto-x on Kumhos, but ended up changing out for other tires. Also, if you're running stock rims, try using a set of 205/50-15s instead of the factory 195/55-15s, to get a little more tread on the pavement. Personally, I'd pick up a set of Falken's.

I don't think the Azenis last that long...

If you are going to get kumho's.. i'd try out a set of Kumho KH11's.. my friend had them on his 240SX and they were really good wet traction, with decent dry traction, and they lasted a hella long time (he drives hard too. no drifting mind you!)

to be safe, you only need to replace in pairs. and always run the same size wheel diameter on the front, like if you pop a front tire, grab the spare, put it on the rear, and the rear actual wheel on the front. unless you're going short distance. a bunch of guys in auto-x i've heard run a skinnier rear tire for more nuetral handling characteristics

If you're gonna get summer tires, get something better than the 712's.

I've had 712's for a year now, and I'm not that impressed. They're better than stock, but there are better choices. I'd look into the Kumho MX's, ES-100's, or the Azenies. Also, if you're on stock rims, I'd recommend going with the 195's instead of the 205's. With the Azenies, it might be ok, but with others, the steering is sloppy with the wider tires. Unless you've got 7" rims, stick with 195. I made the mistake of going 205 on my 6.5" Rota rims. It feels sooo sloppy going around corners now.

Also, change all four tires at once, not two at a time.
