Default turbo exhaust system loudness

I have a 3" piping exhaust setup w/ Dynomax (round) muffler and CATCO racing catalytic converter and its pretty quiet...It still has a nice tone sound, but not too loud nor annoying. Plus, my setup cost me bout...hmmm...under $450 installed at a local muffler shop (A-1 Muffler Shop of Belmont/Mt.Holly, NC). ***[all components have 3" inlet/outlet]

3" downpipe, no cat, all the way back to an apexi N1. Not very loud at all, you can carry on a conversation in the car or listen to the radio no problems. I am probably going to go to a thermal 3" muffler just because the big N1 cannister gets too much attention.

There is minimum bends on my setup and the back pressure is just nearly perfect. Less noise, all the power....no doubt!!!

2.25" mandrel bent
"cherry bomb" muffler as a resonator
Normal muffler at the end

It sounded pretty decent, not too loud. I installed my turbo and now it sounds almost stock.

i have pretty much the same setup but a 2.5" downpipe.. i will be replacing the N1 canister soon because A. it hangs to low, B. gets unneeded attention from people.. i really like the way the N1 sounds and looks on my car.. it got a lot quieter in the low rpms when i installed the turbo but it is still loud when i get on it up in the high rpms..

you could also run your dumptube back into the exhaust....which would make it quieter. Cyphears car, you hear the wastegate more than the exhaust.
