have your valves been adjusted recently?? if not it may be time to do so. Other thing that ticks is your fuel injectors, but I don't know how loud. A lot of people say that b-series have a loud valvetrain anyway. But I'd definitely think about the valve adjustment.

somewhere else huh? humm... I think it's..... ohhhh myyyyy goddddd... It's... it's... IT'S A BOMB!

ok, ok... enough with the bombs... if it's a valve adjustment, you should do it as soon as possible because there is too much lash and the lifters are essentially beating up against the valve which can cause premature wear or worse...
IT COULD BE A BOMB!!!!
As far as the other place, take a long screw driver, or a mechanics stethascope, and put the handle tight against your ear, and put the tip of the screw driver against each component, Alt, valve cover, air con. comp, etc, this is the best way to locate an annoying tick (could be a bearing) but I would FIRST recomment since you know that the valves are out of adj, get that taken care of... If you have a feeler gauge and a little experiance you may be able to do it yourself. make sure you replace your valve cover gasket, if you do take it in, make sure you don't get hosed! post your estimate on here and ppl will let you know if it's a good price.. It's a fairly simple job, assuming nothing needs to be replaced, and honda's are natorious for ticking and have adjustable valvetrains for this exact reason.. eitherway, make sure your face is AWAY from the valves when you remove the valve cover gasket in the event that it is indeed......

i thought the same thing, i used to use 93 cause it wasnt that much more expensive here [awhile ago] but since i've switched back to 87 and heard the ticking...but i probably just never noticed it before

ewwww......i've never put anything lower than 93 in mine and i got some bad 93 oct gas once and i had a tick and it went away after i filled up again, my car must be really sensative or something!..... but i knew it wasnt the valves bc i had just got them adjusted!

Yeap. ALL B-Series motor tick, so you shouldn't worry TOO much. Do a valve adjustment afterwards and it should be a bit quieter... but the ticking should still be there. Don't sweat it. If the car is running normal and idle's smoothly, it should be all good.

i almost forget.. my old b21, d16, (and whatever was in my 86 accord), plus my b18.. all ticked generally after a couple thousand miles after an oil change. fresh oil and filter always eliminated the tick.
