yeah i dont think its possible to rev higher than sGT without serious things being done. sgt had custom fuel maps and lots of stuff done to get to 10k

Just get a chipped ECU with no revlimit. The ITR is completely balanced from the factory and is hand assembled. I mean come on now, it's a TYPE R, not some lowly GSR. Just get a chipped ECU without a revlimiter and rev to your hearts content. The only reason the factory puts a revlimiter on the car is to limit the speed that ITR owners can do in 5th gear. I mean you do the math, 14k rpm in 5th would create way too much liability for Acura. Enjoy your high-revving car! Who needs displacement when you have superior technology!

HTH,
Reid

Yeah exactly...if you want to rev to 15K safely, try an F1 car, jackass.

The stock needle is off. SO it appears that stock you can rev to 9000rpms but its really 8400rpms. Most R tachs are off 600rpms around the red line area.
On my custom ECU setup when dragging I rev to 9500 "real " rpms which indicated is like 10,000rpms (bottoming the needle out). On the street/track I normally just shift at the stock rev point since I see no reason to rev it that high. Also not to mention that I use a ACT clutch which is kinda scarry since they are not rated above 9,000rpms or so.
Oh yeah also, thats with stock internals and valve train, minus Ti-retainers to help allow me to rev that high with my charger.
Who said high compression, high revs, etc... don't work with FI! lol It will work if you have the correct setup, balance and tuning.

Oh yeah rev'ing that high (13-14k rpms is total BS on a car like ours. Even the extream race teams (IE Erick's racing/Hondata) revs to 10,000 "real" rpms with the use of hollow core cams and non-vtec "vtec killers" which are not streetable. The honda valve train will never take rev's past that point without crazy engine work to take the abuse. Also that engine would be race only and also would have really crazy maintainance!
F1 cars however do rev that high, but thats also with a F1 setup! lol
For a street car, don't plan on reving past 9500-10,000 "real rpms." For most cars I would say 9000rpms is fine.

Who told you that Speed was RPM restricted. Speed is gear restricted. And go ahead and spin a stock motor to 14k and I'll see you on eBay bidding on a new motor.

You would think my advice will be similar to mister limit the speed through rpm boy. And while that will probably lead you to ebay and my motor my advice is this. Regardless of how high you can rev the car you really need to establish whats practical. At some point you will actually lose power (torque) compared to mealry upshifting.
I have witnesses a few racers who have a claimed redline of around 12,500 on a b16 motor w/ ideal Rod ratios.
I often have wondered this ? and my answers have been varied as the people I asked. Most likely you will be left with the fact that for a street car a motor can only handle so much on a constant basis. This limit has been stated to me by many tune as 10k give or take a little by setup.
Yes I believe most r tachs are off!
If you really want to take the discussion 2 a new level write an email to Dave Coleman at SCC. With a background in engineering, Dave may just tackle that question. I believe you may just get a technobabble article afew months later. Word it correctly and make sure you don't make a fool out of yourself! He just might quote you.

i think for 10k plus u would really have to take that bullshit about
rod stroke ratio, that 1.75 BS, cause with 14k!
reliability is thrown out the window

go rob an F1 team' cart, and rev all u like

Go buy a Yamaha YZF-R6. Stock rev limit is 15,500rpm.

Give me your R.
