Block setup for turbo...
I have almost gathered up all of my parts for my turbo build and am trying to figure out what would be the best setup for my block out of the following options...
B16 sir-2 block
eagle rods
Wiseco 81.5mm 9:1 pistons or JE 81mm 9:1 pistons?
block guard or no block guard?
The block will be sent off to the shop and get bead blasted honed etc.
both sets of pistons are used, but seem to be in pretty good shape. The JE's came out of my buddy's car that detonated one of the cylinders due to his being a dumbass and not TUNING it, so one of the JE's would be brand new. The others appear to be in great shape, I had them looked at etc.
Which setup do you think would be the safest? And how much boost/what amount of power do you think I will be able to get out of it relatively safely?
Rest of the setup is...
Drag-III kit
Tial 35mm Wastegate
HKS SSQBOV
Walbro 255
RC 550
SX FPR
STR Fuel Rail
Hondata S200 w/ boost
Greddy Profec-B
Apex'i EL2 Boost & EGT Gauges
ACT XTSS
Fidanza Flywheel

Eagle makes a good turbo rod. Get the wiseco pistons as the JE's tend to slap. The block gaurd is only necessary if you plan on running big boost say over 17 psi. Block gaurds prevent cylinder walk under high cylinder pressures. Stock sleeves are very strong and do not crack per se.
