pulsating brakes on a 1994 accord
i recently purchased a 1994 honda accord. my concern is with the brakes. as i slow down from speeds greater than 30 mph the pedal pulsates (very fast thump i can feel on my foot). i've read that this could be from uneven rotors. any advice on what i should do would be appreciated.
ps: the brake pads look fine. aslo, i switched from 14" steel rims to stock 15" about two weeks ago. i think the problem existed before this however.

Check your tire pressure.
Adjust if necessary
Check to see if the tires are in balance
Balance if necessary
and if all else fails have your rotors mic'ed and checked for lateral runnout.
at your local honda a dealer of course.
They will replace or resurface your rotors depending on the amount of wear.
And if that dosent do it it is in your suspension. allignment, tie rods etc....
do it at the dealer is right.. i tryed to and did do the front brakes myself... its the biggest pain u will ever have, well for me neway.. i ended up taking the control arms to get the axle out of the unit. im sayin im not sure how much its gonna cost from the dealer or whatever but id say its well worth a couple hundred dollars to do em. but then again i might be a big dummy and did it the hard way.. listen to what other people say also.. lol
Hey Pittsbugh....my old stompin grounds. 32 years ago. ;-] It sure sounds like classic shake-n-brake, warped rotors. Call around to find a local shop that has an 'on-car' brake lathe to resurface the rotors, if they are still thick enough. I've had really good luck with Wagner thermal quiet pads on Hondas, no customer complaints, and they aren't too hard for the rotor, no excessive glazing.
Make sure your caliper slider pins are lubed with high temp grease.
The only other thing you might want to check for is a lumpy tire. Go to a smooth parking lot and idle along to see if there is any rocking motion, or slight movement in the steering wheel.
Best of luck I hope this helps you.
