Default 403's or 404's in a b18a w/ctr slugs.......valve clearance?

I am thinking of putting 403's or 404's in my b18a w/ ctr pistons and was wondering about valve to piston clearance issues? I don't want to buy them and clay the motor just to find out that I can't run them. Please post if you have experience with this or this is your setup. Thanks

hard to find a straight answer on this set up. i have heard the exuast valves need to be shaved a lil. try a search im sure u can get a good idea... claying is the best thing to do though.

I don't want to buy the cams, clay the motor, and then find out that their is interference and try to resale the cams. No one is doing non vtec stuff these days so I would be stuck with cams that i couldn't use

I have your answer. The b16 P30 pistons have even tighter compression than the CTR or ITR pistons. They also have valve clearances, and are just about the tightest oem pistons you can run in the b18b. I think you are way safe with CTR's, check out this link: http://www.hondaswap.com/forum...32119

USDM P73 itr pistons have a 3.64cc PDD yielding 10.3:1 compression.
JDM P73 itr pistons have a 5.96cc PDD, yielding 10.8:1 compression.

(piston dome displacement)

What do you mean by "tighter compression"?

If you are saying that you will have less piston to valve clearance with P30 pistons as opposed to CTR pistons you are dead wrong.

I'm running CTR pistons in my all motor LS, with Colt Race cams (similar to 404's). I have no valve clearance issues, but when I clayed my motor at +6 -6 cam timing my intake valves were VERY close to the valve relief in the piston.

HTH.

How similar are the colt race cams to the 404's? Give specs if possible

I have got an LS with CTR's and 404's with matching valve train................Dynoed 175 whp. I have my intake cam advanced to 6 degrees and it is fine. That is BS about the Exhaust valve. YOU WILL BE FINE AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!!! Check out the ET in my sig. My entire setup is in my HT garage.

Thanks alot. I was waiting for someone that actually had this setup to post. What does that 1/8th mile time equal out to in 1/4 (rough estimate)?
