Default Transmission Issues : questions

My transmission on the 93 del sol si is crapping out. Was fine at first then a couple
times I had the experience of it not wanting to go into gear after going to nuetral
at a stop.

Now it's gotten to the point where I have to turn the car off slide it into first with
the clutch depressed and start the car release and go. I can upshift just fine one
going. If I try to go to first from neutral it wont budge into gear.

Is this the clutch or a hydro problem? It doesnt grind going into gear and the
tach doesnt slip or spin up on catching the clutch.

One thing I noticed was a leak in the transaxle, I have it parked and was going to
jack it up tomorrow and check the filler bolt.

Advice appreciated.

Hell I was going to put the y8 s40 tranny in post turbo anyway. This might be
the motivation to do it now...

my suggestion would be to start with the simplest things first. Check your master slave cylinder resovoir (next to the brake master cylinder res.) to make sure you are full of fluid. Next do a check of the slave cylinder to see if there are any leaks as it seems that the clutch is not being fully released, thus not allowing you to go into first. It doesn't cost anything more than a bottle of dot3 hydro fluid and less than an hour of your time. Hope this helps.

I checked the resevoir, it's full. Is the white plastic disc in it supposed to be free floating?
The brake cylinder has a stick on it to deress that white plastic disk.

Anyway where do I check the slave cylinder itsel for leaks?

Any other things to check out?

syncros sound like they are pretty much done for. but check the fluid, put syncro mesh in. Or just get another tranny. you can find a d series tranny real cheap. And it will be cheaper than rebuilding yours.

how could it be syncors if I can upshift fine. I know what syncros that are bad feel like
from the vr4 world. You can double clutch a bad syncro.

I think it's a hydro issue. Could it be a clogged line?
