Default Timecert VS Helicoil, options, advice needed

Ok, i have 1 helicoil already, its holding, but 2 other head bolts stripped out on my gsr. I have ordered AEBS headstuds. Can i use the headstuds still if i helicoil the 2 that just stripped out, do i need oversized studs, etc. I searched, found some good info, but i still want opinions, heres a link to my other thread

I'll just say that I don't trust helicoils for anything.

Just tap the holes bigger and get larger studs if you want it to be like factory. I had a block timecerted by RS and the only thing I didn like is that I needed to use custom short stud on the timeceted hole. it was also one of the dowl pin holes so we couldnt use a dowl anymore.

Timesert the block, you do not need different studs, or dowel pins. The problem with Heli-coils in the block is they are to short for proper grip strength. If the block has been overheated to much to make the threads go bad, you may have other problems. Call Justin at Buckhead Motor Works on Hilderbrand Ave in Atlanta, and he can give you a hand.

If you're welding that whole big hunk of aluminum back in you just retap.

Just to clarify, I wasnt saying it had to be done that way, I'm just telling him my experience when RS machine did it to my old block.

So Don, if you do timecerts on the front dowl holes o0n a vtec block, the timecert isnt larger thyan the diameter of the dowl itself? I wonder if Rs just used a generic timecert on mine?

Timecert all the way. i ran helicoils on my b20 once and they came right out, so i had to get bigserts(made by timecert) to fix what the helicoils did.

o'h and the timecert factory is right down the street from my work so they where convieniant.

The timesert in no larger than the dowel so it does not interfear with the dowel. This is a long insert, originally to repair alum. Cadillac blocks.
